KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- The Vietnam Telecommunications Authority (VNTA) has selected FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) to deploy Vietnam’s first Mobile Number Portability (MNP) solution using iconectiv’s TruNumber Portability Clearinghouse.
Malaysia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Greece, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, U.A.E. and the U.S. are the countries that have implemented the number portability solutions from iconectiv and its subsidiaries, a statement said.
FPT has worked closely with iconectiv -- the authoritative partner of the global communications industry and number portability expert -- to deliver the MNP solution, bringing additional convenience and choice to Vietnam’s 120 million-plus mobile subscribers.
MNP allows consumers to retain their phone number when switching mobile service providers. The solution has increased competition among mobile service providers who seeking to retain or increase their subscribers.
Deputy Director General of VNTA, Nguyen Phong said Vietnam’s consumers will able to maintain their mobile phone numbers and move freely between mobile service providers as they wish.
