-Chiba to Publicize Its Charms at Promotional Food Event and Fair-
The Chiba Prefectural Government will publicize the charms of its foods, including seasonal farm and marine products, in Singapore in February. There will be a full array of excellent foods from Chiba, one of the largest prefectures in Japan engaged in farming and fisheries. Chiba wants to welcome visitors to the event and fair, and enjoy tasting its foods.

1. Publicity event
Date/time: February 1 (Saturday),14:00 -17:00 (tentative schedule)
Venue: OUE Social Kitchen
Overview:
An event will be held for visitors to experience the charms of foods from Chiba by tasting original cuisine prepared by local chef Michael Lau (*1) using ingredients from the prefecture such as sweet potatoes, mackerel and clams, as well as Japanese sake (rice wine) brewed with palatable water from Chiba.

After experiencing cooking at hotels, he ran a Chinese restaurant with his father called one of Singapore's four heavenly kings of Chinese cuisine. He later studied foods and cooking at Washington State University and Seattle Culinary Academy in the United States. Back in Singapore, he has taught at the Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre (SHATEC), At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy and the Asian Culinary Institute, fostering many young successors.
2. CHIBA (Japan) Food Fair 2020
Period: February 1 (Saturday)-29 (Saturday)
Venue: Japanese restaurant "Kuriya Dining" (in Great World City)

Food products will be sold at shops in the following 4 locations:
1) Tampines 1
2) JEM
3) Jurong Point (WAttention Plaza)
4) Great World City (*2)
(*2): Sales will start around early or mid-February as Great World City is being refurbished.
Overview:
Dishes using marine products from Chiba Prefecture such as mackerel and clams will be offered at the Kuriya Dining Japanese restaurant. Meanwhile, marine and agricultural products, including seasonal sweet potatoes and strawberries, as well as cookies and the like recommended by the Chiba government will be sold at the above-mentioned shops.
On February 2, moreover, Chiba Prefecture's mascot "CHI-BA+KUN" will appear at Jurong Point between 11:00 and 13:30 and at Tampines 1 between 15:00 and 17:00 as part of an effort to liven up the food fair.
