PaperCut, in a statement said admins and operators could simply manage all specialty jobs, while also taking advantage of its powerful cost management, security and user identification features with the new job ticketing capability.
The new capability allows operators to accept specialty and 3D printing job submissions, such as laser cutting and prototype production, and track them through the production process while communicating the status to the requesting user.
The update connects in-house print rooms and fab labs at educational institutions, legal organisations, local governments, commercial organisations and hospitals to PaperCut's print management system.
"Until now, the lack of connection between our customers' general and specialty printing solutions such as print rooms and 3D fab labs has been a burden that cost them both time and money," said co-founder and chief executive officer of PaperCut, Chris Dance.
'To solve these problems, we have created a simple solution that will improve their specialty printing controls, security and payment options," he said.
Previously, organisations needing specialty prints lacked affordable or efficient options, or both, to produce and manage jobs.
Businesses would either have to use tedious, manual approaches to tracking and management, or purchase expensive software solutions limited in scope.
