Entegris, SIMTech set up research laboratory to expand product development

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 -- Entegris Inc recently announced the launch of a joint research laboratory with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research’s (A*STAR) Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech).

The laboratory will serve as technology centre where Entegris will explore capabilities for developing new products using 3D printing technologies with state-of-the-art modelling and simulation, according to a statement.

Entegris Chief Technology Officer, Jim O’Neill said the joint endeavor would enable Entegris to explore a much broader array of innovations in product designs and simulate their performance before creating prototypes.

He said 3D printing had the potential to make product design capabilities more robust by enabling more complex designs than traditional manufacturing processes could facilitate.

SIMTech’s executive director Dr David Low said: “Through public-private partnerships such as our exciting new joint lab with Entegris, A*STAR works hand-in-hand with industry players to co-innovate and develop new solutions to help them become more competitive.

The joint research laboratory with SIMTech builds on Entegris’ commitment to establish a global network of technology centres in close geographic proximity to its customers worldwide.

In addition to the newly-created Singapore Technology Consortia, Entegris has technology centres in Taiwan, Korea, China, and North America.

Entegris is a world-class supplier of advanced materials and process solutions for semiconductor and other high-technology industries.
