KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) -- Having accepted a media visit, the crew of ‘Winter Begonia’, co-produced and executed by Huanyu Entertainment spoke of interesting episodes behind the scenes of the China period drama.
‘Winter Begonia’, directed by Hui Kaidong, with starring roles by Huang Xiaoming, Yin Zheng, Charmaine Sheh, is a drama surrounding the republic of China and depicting the love in chaos epoch between a Peking opera’s genius diva and a patriotic businessman.
To display the quality of the drama, lifestyle details in the scenes, such as cracked windows and water-vapour on the Kang (a heatable brick bed) incarnate the Peiping style which took six months to prepare for the scenes of ‘Winter Begonia’.
During this period, the team visited many places such as Beijing and Tianjin, and deeply experienced the folk customs and life of the Peiping region to display the scenes in the most authentic way.
The drama also strives to promote the traditional Peking Opera by displaying a number of classic episodes and original repertoires of the opera and Kunqu opera.
For the traditional Peking Opera displayed in the drama, the leading actors demonstrated their expectations the drama would make more people know about the quintessence of Peking Opera and to be deeply in love with it.
Huanyu Entertainment has firstly focused on the quintessential opera, expecting to show its charm via the young and fashionable work, enhancing the acceptance and appreciation of Chinese quintessential culture for the younger generation.
