KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- Coca-Cola is ahead of the pack among 100 megabrands, followed by Pepsi, Nescafé, Lay’s and L’Oréal Paris, respectively, according to Euromonitor International.
The global market research company has unveiled the top 100 megabrands white paper, revealing the world’s leading Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brands ranked by retail sales value in 2017.
Coca-Cola is the world’s largest FMCG brand with Latin America accounting for 40 per cent of its global sales and Mexico being the single most important country for the brand.
Trailing Coca-Cola, Pepsi is the world’s second largest soft drinks brand. The United States (US) drove its success at US$3.5 billion sales in 2017. (US$1 = RM4.08)
Worldwide leading hot drinks brand, Nescafé had Asia Pacific for its third total retail sales in 2017, with Japan ranking as the top country for hot drink sales.
Lay’s clinched its position as the world’s leading packaged food brand and the US again led the sales of over US$6 billion in 2017, counting for more in the 20 next most successful countries combined.
Lastly, the world’s leading beauty and personal care brand by sales, L’Oréal Paris, had China its second-highest country behind the US. The country is forecast to increase sales by over 40 per cent by 2022.
According to the report as well, the global FMCG sales reached US$4.2 trillion in 2018, with Asia Pacific accounting for the biggest share at 29.5 per cent, followed by North America (21.2 per cent) and Western Europe (21.1 per cent).
